Dolly Parton has released more than 50 albums since her RCA debut back in 1967. She has won her fair share of awards since that time, including eight Country Music Association honors between 1968 and 1996. Some of those prizes include Female Vocalist of the Year two years in a row (1975 and 1976), as well as Vocal Event of the Year in 1988 and 1996. In 1999, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame.
She also received seven Grammys since 1978, most recently for Best Bluegrass Album in 2001 and Female Country Vocal in 2002. In addition to being honored by the music industry, Parton picked up three People's Choice Awards, and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song ("9 to 5") in 1981. She also acquired her star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
Dollywood, her musical theme park that opened in 1986, became so popular that its success has been credited with the closing of its only rival, Opryland, in 1997. In recognition of her park's contribution to Seiver County's local economy, a life-size statue of Dolly was erected on the lawn of the county courthouse.
